19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since spring of that year.
Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
